Doctoral Support Program

A new initiative launched in 2006, this program is designed to assist CAs pursuing doctoral studies for a career in teaching and research in accounting, assurance or taxation, by providing selected candidates with loans to a maximum of $10,000 per annum for up to four years, forgivable if the candidate successfully earns a doctorate within five years of commencing the doctoral program, and teaches accounting at a BC university immediately upon completion of the doctorate, one year of teaching for each year of support.

Accounting Educator's Symposium

The CAEF hosts a biannual Accounting Educators' Symposium in May, in Vancouver. Accounting educators from around the province attend this event, which provides the unique opportunity for CA educators to learn and exchange ideas about the latest developments in the accounting profession.

Conference for Academics and Educators – Understanding IFRS (May 2008)

The CAEF hosted a special course on IFRS for educators, whereby all accounting educators in BC were invited to attend sessions hosted in Vancouver, Kelowna and Victoria on IFRS and on curriculum modification to address the changing standards.

CA Professorship in Accounting at UBC

This post, offered to a senior accounting scholar, is currently filled by Kin Lo, Ph.D., CA, whose research interests and reputation round out the needs of the Accounting Division at UBC.

CA Research Fellows at SFU

Dr Craig Emby, CA and Dr. Dennis Chung, CA hold these fellowships which support professors in conducting fundamental research of interest to the accounting profession, leading to publications in accounting journals.
